Internal Link AI - how the suggestions are picked

Internal links are one of the biggest under-utilized SEO levers. New articles rarely link to old ones — which means your old articles slowly lose authority and never get the boost from new content. Internal Link AI fixes that automatically.

Available on **Growth, Pro, and Max** plans.

## How it works

When you click **Internal Link AI** in the editor's right-hand panel, BlockPress:

1. Reads your current article's body
2. Pulls a summary of every other BlockPress-managed article in your store
3. Sends both to Claude (Anthropic), which finds natural places in your draft where linking to a related older article makes sense
4. Returns suggestions: anchor text + target article + suggested insertion point
5. You review and click **Insert** on each one you like — or **Dismiss** to skip

You're always in control — nothing is inserted without your click.

## What makes a good suggestion

The AI looks for:

- **Topical relevance** — only suggests articles actually related to the current one (no "see also" link spam)
- **Anchor text that reads naturally** — usually a 25 word phrase that flows in the sentence
- **Insertion points where the reader would benefit** — mid-paragraph at a related concept, not at the end as an afterthought

## What it doesn't do

- **Doesn't add outbound links** — only internal links to your own articles
- **Doesn't replace existing links** — only adds new ones
- **Doesn't run continuously** — you trigger it per-article when you want suggestions

## Cost

One Internal Link AI run = **one AI generation** against your monthly quota. So on Growth (30/mo) you can run it roughly once a day; on Pro (400/mo) you can run it on every article without thinking about quota.

## Best practice

Run it on:

1. **Every new article** before publishing — catches the natural links to older content
2. **High-traffic old articles** quarterly — links from older content to newer content also matter

If you import a batch of legacy articles, run Internal Link AI on each one as you re-edit it. Pre-BlockPress articles almost always have zero internal links and benefit a lot.

## On Free?

Internal Link AI is locked on the Free plan. Upgrade to Growth ($9/mo) to unlock it — combined with version history, templates, and Klaviyo blocks, Growth is built to be the "I'm publishing seriously now" tier.
