You can change plans any time from inside BlockPress. Shopify handles the proration, so you only pay for what you actually use.
## Where to change plans
In the BlockPress dashboard:
1. Open `/app/billing` (or click the plan badge in the editor header)
2. The 4-tier card view shows your **Current plan** badge and **Choose [tier]** CTAs on the others
3. Click **Choose Growth / Pro / Max** to upgrade or downgrade
Shopify takes over from there — you'll see their familiar approval page showing the new charge, then bounce back to BlockPress with the new tier active.
## Upgrades
- **Take effect immediately**
- Shopify prorates the charge — you pay the difference for the rest of the current billing period
- Your AI quota expands the moment the upgrade confirms (any in-progress overage stops)
- Any feature gated to the new tier unlocks instantly (Article Health, Performance, etc.)
## Downgrades
- **Take effect at the end of your current billing period**
- You keep your current features and quota until that date
- If you downgrade Pro → Growth and you've published more than the new author limit, the existing authors stay — but the **Add new author** button is gated until you're back within the cap
## Cancelling
To cancel entirely, downgrade to **Free** on the billing page. This:
1. Cancels your Shopify subscription (no more charges)
2. Drops you to the Free tier at the end of the current billing period
3. Keeps all your articles, drafts, templates, and analytics data — nothing is deleted
If you want to **uninstall the app entirely**, do that from your Shopify admin (`Apps → BlockPress → Uninstall`). On uninstall:
- Shopify cancels your subscription automatically
- BlockPress receives the GDPR redact webhook from Shopify
- All your shop-scoped data (drafts, templates, analytics, authors) is deleted within 7 days
- Your published articles **stay on your storefront** — they live in Shopify's database, not ours
## Refunds
Charges are non-refundable except where required by law. If you were charged in error (e.g. you cancelled but Shopify billed you anyway), email `billing@blockpress.app` within 14 days and we'll sort it out.
## Trial cancellations
If you're in the 7-day trial and cancel before it ends, you pay nothing. The plan reverts to Free at the trial's end date.
## Switching frequently?
There's no penalty for switching plans up or down month to month. If your publishing pace fluctuates seasonally, this can actually save money — Pro during your busy quarter, Growth during the rest.
